BYU Marriott MBA student mentors seek to build a sense of community, belonging, and group success in the job search process. Second-year MBA students mentor first-year students under the direction of the BYU Marriott MBA career management team. The organization includes a student leadership team consisting of a head mentor, track lead mentors, and individual mentors all providing guidance to first-year students looking to land internships.
Students apply and are interviewed for mentor roles. A critical assessment is made from prior internship success, communication style, influence, results, leadership, credibility, accountability, and other factors. Mentors are held to high standards for their contributions, success, and measured outcomes. Mentors are expected to hold weekly meetings with their assigned teams of incoming students and are tasked with sharing strategic content, addressing or up-leveling individual challenges, and holding students accountable for key recruiting metrics.
BYU Marriott MBA student mentors increase the program’s visibility—helping students secure quality internships with a wide range of companies, from the Fortune 100 to startups.
