A Global Impact: Introducing the 2025 Eccles Award Recipients

Every year the Whitmore Global Business Center at the BYU Marriott School of Business honors first-year MBA students with the Eccles Scholars Award, which includes $9,000 to support students with a strong interest in and commitment to international business. With hometowns ranging from Orem, Utah, to Paraná, Brazil, and speaking languages like Tagalog and Italian, this year’s recipients were chosen for their academic performance, prior international experience, second-language fluency, and focus on developing an international career in business.

2025 MBA Stoddard Scholars Recognized for Excellence in Finance

As a practicing Muslim, Arizona State University student Mohammad Awwal has sometimes found it uncomfortable to incorporate his faith at work. “Muslims pray every day, even during work hours. So for me, in an environment where it’s kind of taboo to talk about your faith, when I need to take maybe a couple of minutes off to have my prayer, then it becomes a very discomforting experience,” he explains. Christie Clark was used to writing stories for others. After double majoring in acting and communications with an emphasis in advertising in her undergrad years, Clark went to work at a local advertising agency in Salt Lake City where she consulted clients on a variety of projects but never got to make the final call. “I realized that if I wanted to be on the other side of the table, I would need an MBA,” says Clark. So she turned to the BYU Marriott School of Business to aid her in this pursuit.
