The professional accountancy stem is designed to prepare students for a career in providing professional services for firms and corporations (advisory services, assurance services, etc.). More than half of the required credit hours in the professional accountancy stem and tax stem are the same, but eighteen credit hours focus solely on teaching students the ins and outs of professional services. Subject matter unique to the professional accountancy stem includes advanced courses in auditing, managerial accounting, accounting information systems, and other similar topics.
