IS Researchers Ranked Top Ten
PROVO, Utah – Jun 02, 2017 – For the first time ever, the BYU Marriott School of Management landed in the top ten of the Association of Information Systems research rankings.
The ranking, based on the number of published articles in the six leading information systems journals over the past three years, includes seventeen articles published by faculty from the school’s department and places the Marriott School in the No. 10 slot for most publications in the world.
Individually, BYU information systems faculty Jeff Jenkins was No. 3, Bonnie Anderson and Anthony Vance tied at No. 7, and James Gaskin was ranked No. 21 among professors worldwide for most publications in the past year. In addition, BYU IS program alum Paul Lowry came in at No. 3 overall.
“I think these rankings show that our program is world class,” Vance says. “We have amazing faculty who do research that matches the top in the world, and the professors here are here because they love BYU and want to continue contributing to its mission.”
Research coming out of the Marriott School and the IS department continues to increase, due in part to the establishment of a neurosecurity lab and an on-site behavioral lab. These resources, among others, provide BYU faculty with cutting edge tools that help them generate groundbreaking research in their fields.
“These rankings show the Marriott School’s commitment to excellence by encouraging high quality research and hiring professors who are not only stellar teachers but also outstanding scholars,” Anderson says.
The Marriott School is located at Brigham Young University, the largest privately owned, church-sponsored university in the United States. The school has nationally recognized programs in accounting, business management, entrepreneurship, finance, information systems, and public management. The school’s mission is to prepare men and women of faith, character, and professional ability for positions of leadership throughout the world. Approximately 3,300 students are enrolled in the Marriott School’s graduate and undergraduate programs.
