BYU Continues to Move Up in Latest U.S. News Rankings

PROVO, Utah – Sep 12, 2012 – Brigham Young University continued its upward surge in the U.S. News' annual Best Colleges rankings released this morning, jumping up another three spots to 68th among all national universities.

BYU moved up five spots to 31st in the "Best Undergraduate Business" category while holding steady at the No. 3 spot for "Best Accounting Programs."

The 2013 Best Colleges guidebook, which will be in stores Sept. 18, ranks more than 1,400 four-year accredited colleges and universities. BYU falls into the category of "national universities," which includes schools that offer a full range of undergraduate majors, plus master's and doctorate degrees.

This year BYU also improved to 5th in the category of "Least Debt," which compares the average debt carried by departing graduates, and ranked 15th in the "Great Schools at Great Prices" category. BYU landed in the top 50 in the category of "High School Counselor Rankings," coming in at No. 49.

The Ira A. Fulton College of Engineering and Technology was also listed among the top engineering schools, with its undergraduate program ranked 85th.

In specialty categories, the Marriott School ranked 15th in international business while also moving up five spots to 16th in entrepreneurship.

Harvard and Princeton tied for the top spot in the "national universities" category, followed by Yale, Columbia and the University of Chicago.
