The learning outcomes, performance measures, quality assessment measures, and performance standards are detailed below for the experience design and management program.

Students graduating from the program shall demonstrate the following entry-level knowledge: the nature and scope of the relevant park, recreation, tourism, or related professions and their associated industries.

How was content and criterion validity of measure established, or how was the quality of measure established?
Cost/Volume/Profit Analysis: Assignment developed as part of class textbook. Bob Rossman is a respected scholar in the field.
Case Studies: Two case studies are used that incorporate design thinking, experience economy, and management principles (experience staging, marketing, human resources, finances, strategy, and ethics) to experience providing enterprises. The emphasis of the write ups are to focus on making sound business decisions based on quality evaluation with tight strong writing.

Exam Items: Each item was peer reviewed by colleagues, professors, and student teaching assistants. Each exam item was also reviewed using ExamStat Item Analysis System.
Midterm Exam:
Exam questions were based upon content from lectures and readings on the foundational principles of the profession.

Quality Assessment Measures
How was content and criterion validity of measure established, or how was the quality of measure established?
Final Round of Experience Testing – Planning Documents: This assignment has been developed over the course of multiple semesters incorporating feedback from the Center for Teaching and Learning and students. The experience design content came primarily from the Stanford d.school and the Rossman and Duerden’s Designing Experiences book. The assignment is reviewed annually by the instructor and TAs to make improvements based upon student responses and performance on the assignment.

Quality Assessment Measures
How was content and criterion validity of measure established, or how was the quality of measure established?
Case Studies: Two case studies are used that incorporate design thinking, experience economy, and management principles (experience staging, marketing, human resources, finances, strategy, and ethics) to experience providing enterprises. In 2019-2020 cases were written up with detailed case reports. The emphasis or the write ups were to focus on making sound business decisions based on quality evaluation with tight strong writing.
Capstone Project:
This assignment has been reviewed by ExDM faculty and tied into ExDM 422’s final project. ExDM faculty have reviewed the assignment and offered suggestions on how to improve it. In addition, after the course was completed, feedback from students was given about how to improve the assignment. The assignment and students final project have been shared with industry leaders from Qualtrics, Tempkin Group, and SAP to gain insight on how to better help students prepare for the careers. The assignment’s narrative description was changed to aid students in understanding specifically the targeted goals of the assignment.

Students graduating from the program shall demonstrate, through a comprehensive internship of no less than four hundred clock hours and no fewer than ten weeks, the potential to succeed as professionals at supervisory or higher levels in park, recreation, tourism, or related organizations.

Syllabus and assignments have been approved by an external reviewer within the University.
Portfolio:
This assignment has been reviewed and revised by academic peers for several years. Specific assignments within the portfolio will continue to undergo revisions. The University Internship Director as has advised on the content and requirements for this assignment.
Weekly Log:
Measures the amount of time students spend in the internship
Supervisor Evaluations:
Midterm and final evaluations contain items of importance for practitioners supervising student interns
Work Sample:
Rubric and content validity of the work sample has been reviewed and revised by academic peers
Performance LevelsPortfolio: The average score for the portfolio will be 90% or better.

Supervisor Evaluations: The average score on mid-term supervisor ratings will be 80%. The average score on final supervisor ratings will be 95%
