Wadsworth Named Public Management Chair

PROVO, Utah – May 31, 2017 – Marriott School of Management dean Lee Perry has announced Lori Wadsworth as the new chair of the public management department and director of the Romney Institute of Public Management effective 1 July.

“We are excited for the skill set, experience, and temperament that Lori brings to this position,” Perry says. “She is well regarded within her department and across the college and university. We are excited about working with her and grateful for her willingness to accept this important appointment.”

Wadsworth joined the Marriott School faculty in 1999 but has been at BYU since 1983. Before becoming an associate professor, she was an academic advisor for the university. Wadsworth currently teaches the MPA capstone course and the undergraduate Ethics in Management course. She has received several awards for her accomplishments, including a research fellowship from the Ballard Center for Economic Self-Reliance, and the Work-Family Early Career Scholar Award from the Sloan Foundation. Wadsworth has also served on many BYU committees, including the Library and Scholarly Communication Advisory Council Committee, the Marriott School Curriculum Committee, and the Romney Institute Curriculum Committee.

“It is a great honor to work with the many facets of the Romney Institute,” Wadsworth says. “I am excited to be a part of building upon the strong foundation created by previous leadership in the department and continuing to extend the impact of the Romney Institute and the MPA program.”

Wadsworth will follow Jeff Thompson, who has served as the department chair for the past three years.

The Marriott School is located at Brigham Young University, the largest privately owned, church-sponsored university in the United States. The school has nationally recognized programs in accounting, business management, entrepreneurship, finance, information systems, and public management. The school’s mission is to prepare men and women of faith, character, and professional ability for positions of leadership throughout the world. Approximately 3,300 students are enrolled in the Marriott School’s graduate and undergraduate programs.
