Strategy

The strategy minor is designed to prepare students for initial jobs in management consulting, general management, or corporate planning/business strategy positions in large firms or startups. Students who are accepted into this minor will be part of a cohort that takes business strategy classes together over the course of three semesters.

This minor is a limited enrollment program and is available to BYU students who are not BYU Marriott majors. Students must submit an online application for the minor by the last working day of June at 4:30 p.m. (MDT). After submitting an application, strategy minor applicants will be selected and contacted for an interview in early July. Students will be notified of their acceptance to the minor by the end of July. Preference is given to those with outstanding GPAs and prerequisite grades. SAT/ACT scores will also be evaluated if available, but these scores are not required for the application.

The minor requires a minimum of three semesters as the courses must be taken sequentially. Students must be able to commit to take these courses in three or four semesters within the next two school years from when they enter the program. Dual clearance from BYU Marriott and a student’s major academic advisor is required to enter the program. Before submitting a strategy minor application, students should contact the academic advisor over their declared major to discuss whether they would be cleared to declare the strategy minor if admitted.
