Underclassman Academy

Sponsored in conjunction with the Department of Finance, the Finance Society’s Underclassmen Academy is a program aimed at freshmen and sophomores interested in finance careers.

Why Participate?

About 180 students participate in the academy each year. Fall semester consists of general sessions about careers in finance. During this semester, students are given a vast look at all aspects of finance. Starting winter semester, students choose a sub-club to attend and learn more about the specifics of that area of finance, as well as how to recruit for jobs in that area.

Underclassmen Academy classes are held weekly and are taught by finance students who have found success after going through the academy.

The academy’s primary objectives are to:

  • Introduce students to various finance career options
  • Offer insights on how to succeed in the finance program
  • Network with finance students, faculty, and professionals
  • Develop critical recruiting skills

A top internship can jump-start a career, and the Underclassmen Academy is putting students on track to land the jobs they want. By providing training and experiences in networking, interviewing, and writing résumés, the academy is helping students prepare for their careers.
