What is Equity?
Students in the finance major equity track receive specialized training focused on the topic of equity investments. This training includes involvement with a student-run equity portfolio of more than $1 million in assets under management. Students learn how to execute due diligence on companies, build valuation models in Excel, and pitch companies to their classmates. This education involves a focus on the markets in which equities are traded, their industries, and qualitative as well as quantitative analysis.
Finance graduates who complete courses in the equity track enjoy a broad range of job opportunities, including equity research analyst at an investment bank or large commercial bank, trader on an equities desk, buy-side analyst at an asset management firm, and many others.
