The BYU Marriott School of Business will host the 2027 Winter Strategy Conference in the mountains of Sundance, Utah. This invitation-only conference brings together approximately 50 participants, including many leading scholars in the field of strategy, for rigorous discussion and exchange in a highly interactive setting.
The conference features distinguished plenary speakers while placing particular emphasis on supporting and developing the scholarship of junior faculty. This year’s conference chair is Timothy Gubler, Associate Professor of Strategy and Alice Belle Jones Fellow at the BYU Marriott School of Business.

We are excited to welcome you to the 2027 Winter Strategy Conference at Sundance, Utah.
The Winter Strategy Conference has long provided a setting for rigorous academic exchange on important questions in strategy while creating opportunities for sustained interaction among scholars. This year, we hope to continue that tradition by bringing together faculty with diverse perspectives to engage deeply with consequential questions facing the field.
A central part of the conference is our commitment to developing junior scholars. Junior faculty are invited to submit a paper for presentation, and each selected scholar will receive detailed feedback from an experienced discussant as well as the broader conference community. We especially welcome research that tackles important first-order questions in strategy and adjacent fields and has the potential to shape how we understand organizations, firms, and strategic behavior.
Junior scholar paper sessions will be complemented by plenary presentations and panel discussions addressing broader questions and emerging issues in the field of strategy. Our goal is to create a conference characterized not simply by presenting research, but by substantive conversation, deep interaction, constructive debate, and the exchange of ideas across perspectives.
By bringing together scholars at different career stages and encouraging deep engagement with important problems, we hope the 2027 Winter Strategy Conference will help advance both the questions we ask and the knowledge we develop as a field.

Conference participants are responsible for their registration ($275), airfare, and the conference pre-negotiated lodging fee. BYU Marriott will cover food, the conference facility, the winter activity cost, and a nice conference gift for each participant. The call for papers will open September 1st, 2026, with conference registration available starting in November.
