About 10 percent of BYU Marriott Executive MBA students travel from outside the state to attend the program. Past students have hailed from such places as Arizona, California, Idaho, Texas, Washington, DC, and Canada.
Here are a few things to consider if you will need to commute long distance:
- Regular classes (not residency weeks or FBE) are held on Fridays from noon to 6:30 p.m. and Saturdays from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m., allowing you enough time to commute and still get home on Sundays. Depending on travel time needed and flight schedules, you may find it easiest to travel in on Thursday night and travel out on Saturday night. Others have decided to travel in on Friday morning and out on Saturday night.
- Virtually all classes for the program are held at the BYU Salt Lake Center in downtown Salt Lake City. It is conveniently located right off the TRAX Green Line which runs directly from Salt Lake International Airport with no transfers. This eliminates the need and expense for a rental car. Approximate travel time from the airport to the Salt Lake Center is 10-15 minutes.
- There are many hotels in downtown Salt Lake City. Several offer generous discounts allowing you to be close to the class location. Making arrangements to stay with a friend, family member, or classmate is also an option.
- Brigham Young University Travel is an in-house travel office available to book travel for students and other members of the university community. This service is available to BYU Marriott Executive MBA students as well. The Travel Office can book airline tickets and hotels and has access to corporate travel discounts.
