The Army ROTC scholarship program provides financial assistance for the education and training of highly-qualified and motivated young men and women who desire to be commissioned as officers in the Army after graduation from college.
Eligibility Requirements
Candidates must meet the following eligibility requirements to apply for and receive scholarships:
- Candidates must be of good moral character, as evidenced by his or her participation as a member of their home community and the institution where they are enrolled.
- Candidates must be a citizen of the United States.
- Candidates must be at least seventeen years old by 1 October of the year of enrollment as a scholarship cadet.
- Candidates must also be under twenty-seven years old on 30 June of the calendar year in which eligibility for appointment as a second lieutenant. Up to four years extension may be granted for active duty service.
- Candidates must exhibit a strong desire to obtain a commission and baccalaureate degree.
- In the selection process, leadership potential is an important factor considered. Applicants must possess officer potential as evidenced by appearance, personal physical fitness, personality, academic performance, and extracurricular activities.
- Candidates must be medically qualified for initial enrollment into ROTC.
- Candidates must be enrolled in or accepted for enrollment as a full-time regularly matriculating student in any major of study, except theology, at a baccalaureate degree granting institution, beginning the effective date of the scholarship.
- Army ROTC scholarship recipients must attain an undergraduate degree in the discipline in which the scholarship is granted.
- Candidates must have a minimum 2.50 GPA at the time of application and at contracting. An enrolled applicant must have at least a 3.0 ROTC cumulative GPA.
- Candidates must pass the minimum standard on the Army Physical Fitness Test or the Physical Aptitude Examination.
