BYU Announces Business School Changes

The Brigham Young University Board of Trustees has approved a change to the name of the university’s business school and two of its departments in addition to changing seven undergraduate emphases to majors.

Previously known as the BYU Marriott School of Management, the college is now the BYU Marriott School of Business. Two departments within BYU Marriott have also been renamed: the Department of Organizational Leadership and Strategy is now the Department of Management and the Department of Recreation Management is now the Department of Experience Design and Management.

“The mission and core values of the BYU Marriott School of Business remain constant amid these changes,” says Lee Perry, BYU Marriott dean. “But by changing a few of the words we use to identify our school and programs, we will become more clear in our communications to recruiters, students and other stakeholders of the college.”

In addition to the name changes, seven new BYU Marriott majors have been approved. They include: entrepreneurial management, experience design and management, global supply chain management, human resource management, marketing, strategic management, and therapeutic recreation and management. Each of the new majors were previously emphases within existing majors.

The BYU Marriott School of Business prepares men and women of faith, character and professional ability for positions of leadership throughout the world. Named for benefactors J. Willard and Alice S. Marriott, the school is located at Brigham Young University, the largest privately owned, church-sponsored university in the United States. BYU Marriott has four graduate and ten undergraduate programs with an enrollment of approximately 3,300 students.
