"Changing Organizations" Focus of Marriott School's MOB Conference

Changing Organizations will be the focus of the Marriott School of Management's annual Master of Organizational Behavior program's spring conference April 4-5. The conference will address such topics as "Managing Knowledge Across Boundaries," "Social Change and the Strategic Development of ‘NON' Organizations" and "Crossing the Line: Research on Expressing Anger in Organizations," in an open forum for practitioners, academicians and students.

David Hanna

David Hanna, president and CEO of Confluence Consulting, will kick-off this year's conference. Hanna is the author of Designing Organizations for High Performance and Leadership for the Ages and works with executive leadership teams for companies worldwide, including Merck, General Motors, Xerox and Deloitte & Touche. Hanna will be honored with the Distinguished Alumni Award during the conference at a banquet Thursday evening that is open to the public.

"This conference is designed to bring professionals, academicians, and students together in a setting where they can freely exchange ideas about and experiences with integrating theory into practice," said Kate Kirkham, MOB program director.

More than 20 academicians and practitioners, including Jack Zenger, president of Provant, Inc., and Bonner Ritchie, acting dean of the College of Business at UVSC, will share organizational-behavior insights and breakthroughs. Zenger is the former chair of the Times Mirror Training Group, was the cofounder of Zenger-Miller and was inducted into the Human Resource Development Hall of Fame in 1994. Ritchie is the former chair of BYU's MOB program.

Full-time students may attend the conference free of charge. Group discounts are available for the conference, and BYU faculty members will receive a 20 percent discount on all conference sessions.
