The United States Military Academy at West Point hosts the Sandhurst competition every spring. The competition involves multiple teams from the Military Academy, teams from Canadian and British Military schools, and a select number of ROTC teams. BYU has the privilege of being one of the few ROTC teams consistently invited to participate. The competition is one continuous race (over four hours long) which includes events similar to the Ranger Challenge Competition. Many of the Ranger Challenge Team members also participate in the Sandhurst competition. The BYU team has consistently been one of the best participating in the competition. In 2009, BYU finished fourth overall, being outscored by only one Canadian team, one British team, and one West Point team.
