Biography:
Taz Murray owned and operated, together with business partners, Alpine Confections, a manufacturer with plants in the US, Poland, China, Canada, and Guatemala. The flagship brand was Fannie May in Chicago and he had other regional brands including Harry London, Bogdon Candy, Dynamic Confections, Kencraft, and Maxfield Candy. Taz sold it to 1800FLOWERS in 2008. He started Tru Fru, a chocolate-covered frozen and freeze dried fruit concept, together with his business partners, in late 2017. (He was introduced to one of his business partners by Dan Snow, director of the MBA program.) Taz grew, operated, and financed Tru Fru without outside capital and sold it to Mars in 2023. He earned his bachelor's degree in accounting from BYU in 1985, worked four hard years in public accounting, then earned his MBA at Harvard Business School in 1991. Taz served his mission in the Philippines, Cebu when there were four missions in the country. His hobbies include anything outdoors, travel with family and friends, movies, and sports. Taz and Tammy have been happily married since 1986 and have five children. Tam earned her MBA from BYU in 1985 when there were only three other women in the program. Three of their children have graduated from BYU in journalism and business programs, two are married, and they have five grandchildren.
