Emily Martin was born in Riverside, California and later raised in Fairfield, CA, Heber City, UT, and Twin Falls, ID. Emily graduated from BYU where she studied Travel and Tourism and Fashion Merchandising. After graduation, she married and lived in Provo, UT, Great Falls, VA, Lubbock, TX and Rochester, NY where her two children were born. During that period, she worked in retail management at Express and Lane Bryant, and in administration at McDougal Properties, Adair Law Firm and ITransact. She also opened her own business, Bella Bella Boutique.

After becoming a single parent, she worked for five years in the Treasury Department at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints before transferring to the Philanthropies Department 10 years ago. She enrolled as an MPA Student in 2016. She currently serves as a Major Gifts Donor Liaison in the Philanthropies Department where she works with donors in Utah and the eastern United States raising scholarship funds for all the Church's institutions of higher learning.

Emily and her husband Bill Prisbrey (BYU MBA Class of 2007) were married in September 2022. Together, they have seven children. Emily enjoys traveling, movies, and music but most of all spending time with her family and friends. She enjoys community service projects and helping under-represented communities. She loves trying new foods, going to new places, and having new experiences with her husband and children.

Emily has founded and served on multiple boards: she was a founding board member of Winter's Gift (for women's health), a board member of Early Intervention (for children), and an advisory board member for the Women to Women Foundation (for single parents.) She is passionate about mentoring single parents and helping them return to school to further their education and self-reliance opportunities.
