Biography:

Amelia Romney was born and raised in Bountiful, Utah. She attended Brigham Young University, where she earned a bachelor’s degree in Recreation Management, with an emphasis in Therapeutic Recreation (2013). While attending BYU, she had the opportunity to intern at the National Ability Center in Park City, Utah, teaching adaptive sports throughout the winter season.

She graduated from the BYU MPA program in 2018, with an emphasis in local government. During her time in the program, she had the opportunity to serve both as the Development Director for the Grantwell program and as an intern for Lehi City. She also participated in a career trip to Arizona, where she fell in love with the City of Mesa. After graduating, Amelia married her long-distance sweetheart, and they moved to Mesa, Arizona.

She worked for the City of Mesa as a Management Analyst in the Office of Management and Budget for two years and then accepted her dream position as the Management Assistant to the Director of Parks, Recreation, and Community Facilities. She put her dream job on hold to pursue full-time motherhood, and after a year of focusing solely on her sweet boy, she accepted a contract position as a project manager with the City of Mesa. She feels incredibly blessed to have the opportunity to work remotely a few hours a week and still focus on soaking up every minute with her son.

She also serves as a board member on the Mesa Parks and Recreation Advisory Board. To stay sane, she loves to cook, weightlift, and read a good book.
