The following students received scholarships: Jack Blodgett, Ken Carlisle, Garon Dayley, Amanda Holmes, Shawn Koncurat, Milton Linn, Ryan McClain, Lucas Meldrum, Matthew Nielson, Sally Reynolds, Camille Robinson, Rebecca Schaefer, Brent Smedley, Sara Snow, Bryan Thunstrom, Rand Waddoups and Davies Walker.

The scholarship money was provided by six individual endowments and four grants from local and national businesses. Although the scholarship program has been in place for years, this year marked the highest amount given to each recipient and the highest total amount awarded to students.

"The directors of the Institute of Marketing are overwhelmed and gratified at the generosity demonstrated by our scholarship benefactors," said Bill Price, director of the Institute of Marketing. "We hope that many more can catch the vision of creating endowed scholarships to benefit our fine students."

Each student received $1,000, with the exception of Matthew Nielson, who received top honors and a cash award of $2,000. The students were chosen by a committee of three professors who ranked each candidate on GPA, scholastic preparation for a career in marketing, interest in marketing as a career, and financial need. Those receiving the top scores were awarded the scholarship, with the top student receiving additional funding.

The Marriott School's Institute of Marketing faculty also contributed to the fund, routing resources from their research funding toward an endowment for the scholarship program. They are joined by Doyle Robison, Larry Dahle, Richard Bolinder, David and Muriel Price and Dahle's Big & Tall Superstores as financial contributors.

The rise in funding for this year's endowment also resulted from the following additional contributors: Walgreen Co., Super Target Co., J.C. Penney Co., Inc. and The Dow Chemical Co.

The Marriott School is located at Brigham Young University, the largest privately owned, church-sponsored university in the United States. The school has nationally ranked programs in accounting, business management, organizational behavior, and entrepreneurship. The mission of the Marriott School is to educate men and women of faith, character and professional ability who will become outstanding managers and leaders throughout the world. Approximately 5000 students are enrolled in the Marriott School's graduate and undergraduate programs.
