In March, the BYU Marriott School of Business administration recognized a graduating student from each undergraduate program with the Bateman Award for their exemplary dedication to the BYU Marriott values, commitment to academic excellence, and profound drive to serve others.

The award is named after Merrill J. Bateman, an emeritus general authority seventy within The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, who held the position of dean at BYU Marriott from 1975 to 1979 and later served as president of Brigham Young University from 1996 to 2003.
“You students have the abilities to do important things, to be a blessing in the lives of other people,” Bateman said during the award ceremony. “I pray that being of service to people will be a hallmark of the Bateman [award] group.”
