In addition to his many accomplishments, Folkman is involved with professional and community organizations. He is a chartered financial analyst and member and past president of the Portland Society of Financial Analysts and an executive board member of the Cascade Pacific Council of the Boy Scouts of America.

Folkman graduated from Brigham Young University in 1967 with a bachelor of science degree in business management. He is a current member of the Marriott School’s National Advisory Council. He and his wife, Sharon, have six children.
