The dean’s office presented the sixth annual Marriott School Staff Excellence Award to five staff members May 24 in recognition of their contributions to Brigham Young University’s Marriott School of Management.
M. Idon Openshaw, dean’s office special events coordinator; Laura N. Thompson, MBA program secretary; Dyanne Law, advisement center assistant director; Heather N. Bowers, School of Accountancy and Information Systems budget director; and Amy Kohler, undergraduate program coordinator, accepted the award and received a $500 cash stipend during a staff luncheon at the Riverside Country Club.
“The award is given to staff members who promote innovation and creativity within their department and demonstrate excellence in service to the faculty and students of the Marriott School of Management,” said Dean Ned C. Hill.
The administration, faculty and fellow staff members of the Marriott School are responsible for recommending candidates for the award and submitting their nominations to the dean’s office. The dean and associate deans then review the nominations and make the final selections. To qualify for the award, a nominee must be either a full-time or permanent part-time staff member for at least one year.
The Marriott School is located at Brigham Young University, the largest privately owned, church-sponsored university in the United States. The school has nationally and internationally ranked programs in accountancy, business management, information systems, public management, organizational behavior and entrepreneurship. The mission of the Marriott School is to educate men and women of faith, character and professional ability who will become outstanding managers and leaders throughout the world. Approximately 3,000 students are enrolled in the Marriott School's graduate and undergraduate programs.
