W. Mitt Romney, president and chief executive officer of the Salt Lake Organizing Committee for the 2002 Olympic Winter Games (SLOC), will deliver the convocation address for Brigham Young University’s Marriott School April 23. The convocation will begin at 8 a.m. in the Marriott Center.
Speaking on “The Business of Integrity,” Romney will address approximately 1,000 business school graduates and their guests. Graduates will include students from five master’s degree programs and two undergraduate programs.
Romney was named president and CEO of the SLOC in February 1999. He is a founder of Bain Capital, Inc., a private holding company with portfolio revenues in excess of $13 billion. Currently, Bain & Company has 25 offices worldwide and more than 2,000 employees.
In addition to his business ventures, Romney has been a member of the Marriott School’s National Advisory Council (NAC) since 1987. The NAC is composed of national business executives who provide support and direction to the Marriott School, promoting management education, ethical business standards and the development of future leaders.
Romney, 51, is the son of the late George W. Romney, Governor of Michigan. He and his wife, Ann, have been married nearly 30 years and have five children. Romney received his bachelor of arts degree with highest honors from Brigham Young University in 1971. In 1975, he was awarded an MBA degree from the Harvard Business School and was named a Baker Scholar. In 1975, he also received his juris doctorate, cum laude, from Harvard Law School.
