BYU’s Marriott School Hosts Fifth Annual Management Conference

Leadership training expert Stephen Covey, U.S. Senator Robert Bennett, vice chairman of Dell Computer Corporation Kevin Rollins, Cleveland Browns quarterback Ty Detmer and former U.S. senator Paula Hawkins will be among the guest presenters at the Marriott Schools’ fifth annual Management Conference June 24-25.

Nearly 20 presenters will discuss various issues centered on the conference theme of “Successful Leadership in Organizations, Communities and Families.” The conference will be in the Harman Conference Center on the Brigham Young University campus.

A golf tournament will be conducted in conjunction with the conference on June 26 at Thanksgiving Point.

In addition to the keynote speakers, the conference will feature break-out sessions dealing with employee compensation, fraud, career decision making, marketing, investing, entrepreneurship, the global business environment and the balance between family and professional concerns.

The conference’s closing banquet Friday evening will feature President Thomas S. Monson, first counselor in the First Presidency of The Church of Jesus Chris of Latter-day Saints.

For those bringing the entire family, parents can register their children for conference activities in teen (13-18 years old) and pre-teen (6-12 years old) age groups. The youth-group agendas include games and activities designed to build teamwork and problem-solving skills, speakers from BYU’s Especially for Youth program and a day at a local water park. Child-care arrangements can also be made for younger children.

Conference attendees may earn Continuing Professional Education (CPE) credit and university credit.

The Marriott School is part of BYU, the largest privately owned, church-sponsored university in the United States. The school has nationally ranked programs in accounting, business management, organizational behavior and entrepreneurship. The mission of the Marriott School is to educate men and women of faith, character, and professional ability who will become outstanding managers and leaders throughout the world.
