Business Week Ranks BYU’s Marriott School of Management in Top 50

Brigham Young University’s Marriott School of Management has been ranked as one of the top 50 business schools and as one of the schools that offers the fastest return on investment, according to a recent study of Business Week.

“We’re pleased with Business Week’s recognition of the Marriott School as one of the country’s excellent business schools,” said Ned C. Hill, dean of the Marriott School of Management at BYU. “We believe the Marriott School is uniquely positioned to attract and develop business men and women of exceptional character and professional ability.”

Business Week ranks business schools every two years. The report ranks the quality of business education by considering the customer’s point of view. This year, almost 10,000 questionnaires were sent to graduates and companies that actively recruit. This year’s report is base on 6,020 graduate responses and 259 company responses.

Graduates were asked to rate their schools on such issues as teaching quality, program content and career placement. Recruiters assessed the skills of the students and ranked business schools on their overall quality and the success rate of graduates in their organizations.

In addition, the report also examines how long each MBA graduate takes to earn back the cost of his/her degree by weighing the cost of tuition and two years of lost wages against the salary gains won by each student after graduation.

“There are two significant reasons why the Marriott School offers one of the best returns on a student’s investment,” Hill said. “Our graduates compete very well with graduates from the nation’s other leading schools, and we have been able to keep the cost of education comparatively low.”

Hill attributes the school’s success to the support it receives from Marriott School alumni and friends as well as the university’s sponsor, The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.
