A Dixie State College ROTC cadet finished ahead of 450 other cadets in the two-mile run at the Army Physical Fitness Test held on Joint Base Lewis-McChord in Washington state.

Jessie Ingraham, a DSC senior, finished the run in 13 minutes and 12 seconds, making her the top female in this event among her cadet peers and marking one of the fastest times recorded this summer.

The run was part of the Army Physical Fitness Test held for cadet training. Passing the test is a prerequisite for becoming commissioned as a U.S. Army lieutenant. In order to score the maximum 100 points in this event, a female participant must run the course in 15.5 minutes or less.

Ingraham is one of thousands of college students from around the globe attending the Army ROTC’s capstone training and assessment exercise, the 29-day “Leader Development and Assessment Course.”

The course is the single most important event in any cadet’s student career, according to Jeremy O’Bryan, a public affairs officer for the U.S. Army. This summer, more than 6,400 cadets will attend the LDAC in different ROTC regiments around the nation.
