The BYU Healthcare Leadership Association (HLA) aligns with the Marriot School of Business’s vision of aspiring to transform the world through Christlike leadership, with an emphasis in the healthcare industry. The HLA's mission is to produce future leaders who will positively improve the global healthcare system.

The HLA educates students to be competent in the complexities of the healthcare system, challenges students with experiential learning opportunities that will prepare them for leadership in the healthcare industry and provides students with the networks and resources needed to obtain employment of their choice in the healthcare industry.

The BYU Marriott School of Business offers an undergraduate minor in healthcare leadership to supplement undergraduate students’ disciplinary skills with the healthcare knowledge needed to enter this complex and essential industry. The healthcare leadership minor is available to all majors, including BYU Marriott majors. The minor allows undergraduate students in any college across campus with a strong interest in healthcare to supplement their disciplinary skillsets with healthcare emphasis, benefiting from both the substance and signal of the minor.

The HLA student organization brings together undergraduate and graduate students to give them unique learning experiences with industry professionals, networking opportunities, and job and internship connections.

The HLA also engages in the research of current healthcare issues to add further value to the industry. The Healthcare Industry Research Collaborative (HIRC) is a research collaborative among faculty, students, and industry partners around the world. This group has two primary purposes: to generate knowledge on relevant healthcare industry topics based on rigorous academic research partnered with industry leaders and provide undergraduate and graduate students with the opportunity to participate directly in this research, increasing experiential learning and enhancing critical thinking and research skills.
