Negotiations Workshop
Dr. Katie Liljenquist
This workshop will be very practical, arming you with concrete strategies for negotiating job offers, as well as negotiation tips that you can apply across a variety of everyday contexts. I’m a strong advocate of hands-on learning, so I want to invite each of you to participate in a practice job negotiation the week prior to the conference. This practice negotiation will be conducted 100% via email—you can sign up to participate via the registration page. (I will pair you up as recruiters and candidates & send you role materials/instructions via email on Sept 23rd. Negotiations can take place over email or the phone—it generally takes 20-30 minutes. Your negotiations should be completed by the following Tuesday, Sept. 30th.) We’ll kick off Friday’s workshop by discussing your negotiating experiences, so while participation is not required, this mock negotiation provides an excellent opportunity for you to practice negotiating in a high-stakes context that you will face on a repeated basis throughout your life.

Idea to Action: Starting Your Company Right

Come listen to two strategy alums–one a successful entrepreneur, and the other a practicing corporate attorney–talk about how to set up a business for success by getting its structure legally and operationally correct.
