30th Anniversary Hunger Banquet
What happens at the event?
All event attendees are randomly seated and served a meal representative of high, middle, or low-income areas of the world. To create a visual representation of the global distribution of resources, most attendees (about 70%) will sit on the floor and share a meal of rice and beans with those around them. Some (about 20%) will be seated in chairs and eat a modest, one-plate meal. A few attendees (about 10%) will be seated at banquet tables and served a fully-catered 5-course meal. Groups will be seated together. When necessary, seating accommodations will be made for the safety and comfort of our guests.
What organization(s) does this fundraiser support?
Before the event, our student-experts in International Development and Program Evaluation thoroughly vet dozens of non-profit organizations and choose three whom we feel have the best positive impact on the world in their chosen fields. At the end of the event, guests will vote on which of these three organizations will receive 100% of the proceeds from the Hunger Banquet this year.
