James H. Quigley, CEO Emeritus, retired as Senior Partner from Deloitte U.S. in June 2012. From 2007 until 2011, he was CEO of Deloitte, Touche & Tohmatsu Limited (DTTL) (the global network). Previously, from 2003 until 2007, Jim was CEO, Deloitte U.S. The Deloitte member firms provide audit, tax, consulting, and financial advisory services to public and private clients in 150 countries. Throughout his 38 years with the organization, Jim has held numerous key leadership roles and built a distinguished track record of service to many multinational clients.
Jim serves as a member of the Board of Directors of Wells Fargo & Company, and was recently elected Chairman of their Audit and Examination Committee; and is a member of their Risk Committee. Jim is a member of the Board of Directors for HESS Corporation and serves as their Chairman of the Audit Committee, as well as a member of the Compensation & Management Development Committee. Jim also serves on the boards of Merrimack Pharmaceuticals, Inc., including their Audit Committee; The German Marshall Fund of the United States, and is a Trustee of the International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS) Foundation. In addition, Jim is a member of the National Advisory Committee – Brigham Young University and the Advisory Board of the Center for Leadership and Ethics – Duke Fuqua Business School; and most recently, completed his term as the U.S. co-chairman of the TransAtlantic Business Dialogue (TABD),
Jim has a history of involvement in various business and community groups in the United States, including The Economic Club of New York, The Council on Competitiveness, The Japan Society, Catalyst – the Center for Audit Quality, the U.S. Chamber of Commerce, the Financial Accounting Foundation, the U.S. Council for International Business, the Business Roundtable, the Shanghai International Financial Advisory Council, the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission Advisory Committee on Improvements to Financial Reporting, and numerous committees of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants and Junior Achievement of New York City.
Jim is the co-author of As One: Individual Action, Collective Power (2011), a best-selling book that addresses the leadership challenge of creating environments that inspire large groups to work together toward a common goal.
Jim earned a Bachelor of Science degree and an honorary Doctorate of Business from Utah State University. He was awarded an honorary degree of Doctor of Commercial Science from Bentley College in Waltham, Massachusetts.

Merrill J. Bateman served as president of Brigham Young University from Jan. 1, 1996, until May 1, 2003. President Bateman also served as one of the first deans of the Marriott School. He and Sister Bateman most recently served as President and Matron of the Provo Temple. President Bateman has served many years in the leadership of the church, having served as Presiding Bishop of the Church and in the Presidency of the First Quorum of the Seventy. President Bateman is owner of BJO Capital Management and continues to serve wherever he is.
Born in Lehi and raised in American Fork, Utah, he earned a bachelor's degree in economics at the University of Utah in 1960 and went on to receive his doctorate in that subject from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology in 1965. President Bateman was a Danforth Fellow (1960-64) and Woodrow Wilson Fellow (1960-61). He was inducted into the Phi Kappa Phi and Phi Beta Kappa honor societies in 1960 at the University of Utah.
His academic assignments include lecturer in economics at the University of Ghana, 1963; assistant professor of economics at the U.S. Air Force Academy, 1964-1967; associate professor of economics at BYU, 1967-1969; professor of economics at BYU, 1969-1971; and dean of the BYU School of Management, 1975-1979. He also has published several articles in the field of economics.
President Bateman headed his own consulting and capital management companies. Before rejoining the BYU faculty as a dean, he was an executive with Mars, Inc., in England and the United States (1971-1975).
Elder Bateman was called to serve in the Second Quorum of the Seventy in June of 1992. As part of that assignment, he was president of the Asia North Area. He has served the Church also as a missionary, bishop, stake high councilor, stake president and regional representative. He also helped lay the foundation for the Church's establishment in Ghana and Nigeria.
He was sustained as Presiding Bishop of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints on April 2, 1994. The First Presidency of the Church released him from that calling when they appointed him president of BYU. However, he continued to serve the Church as a General Authority, filling a position in the First Quorum of the Seventy.
