AI For Good Conference

Call for Participation

Across BYU's campus, students, faculty, and staff are using artificial intelligence in remarkable ways—to serve communities, address poverty, strengthen families, advance peacemaking, and tackle some of the world's most pressing challenges. Yet much of this work happens quietly, without the visibility it deserves.

We invite faculty, staff, and students from all disciplines to join us for a campus-wide, informal gathering with a single purpose: to surface, celebrate, and share AI projects and ideas aimed at making a difference in the world.

What We're Looking For

We welcome projects, presentations, and demonstrations at any stage of development that connect AI with meaningful social impact. Topics of interest include:

  • Service and humanitarian work - Using AI to address poverty, health, education, access to resources, disaster response, or other pressing human needs
  • Community and social good - Projects that strengthen communities, advance equity, or empower underserved populations
  • Ethics and responsible innovation - Reflecting on what it means to develop AI in a way that honors human dignity and serves the common good
  • Gospel learning and faith - Tools or approaches that use AI to support scripture study, gospel teaching, or personal spiritual growth
  • BYU's Mission in Action - Projects that use AI in ways aligned with BYU's mission-inspired scholarship priorities, including research on the family, religion's role in human flourishing, religious freedom, constitutional government, poverty, peacemaking, and education

Early-stage work, works-in-progress, and completed projects are all encouraged. What matters most is that your work reflects the question at the heart of this gathering: How can AI be a force for good?

We are accepting proposals for two presentation formats:

Talks (10 minutes) - Completed or in-progress work; can include short demo
Lightning Presentations (3 minutes) — Brief, focused snapshots of a project, prototype, or early-stage idea
Who Should Apply

If you are working on something that uses AI to make a positive difference, we want to hear from you. We encourage undergraduate and graduate students, faculty, and staff from all disciplines to participate. Meaningful AI for social good is happening across every college on campus.

How to Submit

Please submit a proposal of no more than 300 words describing your project, talk, or demonstration. Include your name, department or affiliation, preferred format, and any equipment or space needs.

Submit Proposal

Deadline: Friday, March 13

Event organizers will review all submissions and notify applicants of their selection for inclusion in the conference program.
