Brigitte Madrian, dean of the BYU Marriott of Business has announced the appointment of Michael Drake as a new associate dean for the college. Drake will be replacing current associate dean Bonnie Anderson on July 1, 2025.

“Mike is well positioned to support our faculty in becoming both excellent teachers and excellent scholars,” Madrian says. “He embodies our BYU Marriott vision, mission, and values and will be a tremendous asset to the college as associate dean. I am grateful for his willingness to serve in this important role.”
Drake graduated with both a bachelor’s and a master’s degree in accounting from BYU Marriott’s School of Accountancy in 2003 before earning a PhD in accounting from Texas A&M University in 2009. He joined BYU Marriott as a faculty member in 2011. In addition to teaching, Drake has been a member of the BYU Marriott Faculty Rank and Status Committee since 2017, and he has served as chair of that committee since 2018. In his time at BYU Marriott, Drake has been recognized with the Brigham Young University Young Scholar Award, the BYU Marriott Outstanding Research Award, the MBA Core Professor of the Year Award, and the BYU Marriott Teaching Excellence Award.
“I’m honored to serve as an associate dean at BYU Marriott and grateful for the opportunity to work alongside such dedicated faculty, staff, and students,” Drake says. “I’m especially grateful for Bonnie Anderson’s exceptional leadership over the past five years, and I look forward to supporting excellence in teaching and research as we work to fulfill our vision of transforming the world through Christlike leadership.”
Bonnie Anderson will return to serving full-time as a professor in the Department of Information Systems. “I have come to depend on Bonnie’s wisdom and judgment and to value and admire her love and concern for others,” Madrian says. “We will miss her in the Deans Office, but our students will benefit from her return to the information systems department.”
