It's a place many students love to turn to when picking their professors, and now RateMyProfessors.com has returned the love, naming Brigham Young University the top college for the 2010–2011 school year.

After a 17-hour test of endurance and IT skill, six Brigham Young University students championed a national information systems competition hosted by the Association of Information Technology Professionals in Orlando, Fla. Continuing their winning tradition, BYU left with three first-place finishes, three second-place finishes, one third-place finish and two honorable mentions — taking home more awards than ever before.

Brigham Young University's Marriott School of Management announced the winners of the 2011 Bateman Awards, the only school-wide awards selected entirely by students.

It all started with a box of Oatmeal Squares. Kalood, a company that hopes to use its innovative social deal platform to revolutionize how consumers receive bargains and shop, won first place and $50,000 in prizes at the 2011 Brigham Young University Business Plan Competition.

The Marriott School of Management presented Michael Swenson, Ford Motor Company Professor of Marketing, with its highest distinction — the 2011 Outstanding Faculty Award — at the annual Marriott School Awards Night held March 9. In addition to Swenson, 14 others were recognized for their dedicated service to the school.

Good communicators are supposed to work behind the scenes, but sometimes they can't help getting pulled on stage for a successful effort. Such was the case when the Marriott School of Management won multiple awards for communications excellence from the Council for Advancement and Support of Education.

Getting students to understand that reality and teaching them how to create and implement effective internet marketing strategies was the goal of the inaugural Crexendo Online Marketing Competition, which culminated in an awards ceremony April 9.

Hippo Blast, a game for iPhone in which the player shoots a cartoon hippo from a cannon to see how far it will go, won first place and $10,000 at the second annual Omniture iPhone App Competition, hosted by the Rollins Center for Entrepreneurship and Technology at the Marriott School of Management.

It wasn't enough for Trevor Fitzgerald to ask "Got milk?" He wanted to know where his milk was being produced. Using his computer savvy, the BYU information systems student created the site whereismymilkfrom.com, which allows users to track the production location of their favorite dairy delights.

Competing against 68 other colleges and universities, six Brigham Young University information systems students brought home eight awards this spring at the National Collegiate Conference for the Association for Information Technology Professionals held in St. Louis. The BYU teams continued their winning tradition from previous years, leaving with the most awards per student entrant.
