What is Beijing+20?
The 4th World Conference on Women occurred in Beijing in 1995 and included more than 30,000 delegates and NGO representatives from almost all nations on the planet. Delegates created the Beijing Platform for Action and outlined the top 12 "critical areas of concern" on women and girls. http://www.un.org/womenwatch/directory/critical_areas_of_concern_30.htm
Next year, the UN headquarters in NYC will host the 20th Anniversary of the 4th world Conference on Women, also known as Beijing+20 or the 59th Session of the Commission on the Status of Women (CSW59-2015). Between March 9 - 20, 2015 the delegates will convene for three specific purposes: (1) the 20-year review of the Beijing Platform for Action, including the 12 “critical areas of concern,” (2) an opportunity to review the expiring Millennium Development Goals (MDGs), and (3) an opportunity to set the post-MDG agenda, including the Sustainable Development Goals SDGs).

This will be an insightful and empowering event that will show both males and females how they're part of the solution to improving women's lives both on- and off-campus. Gender equality is not just a “women's issue”, and men must be half of the solution if we want to solve the problem of gender inequality around the world.
How long is each speaker?
Each speaker will present five minutes worth of problems, present five minutes worth of solutions and run a five minute Q&A session.
