BYU Marriott Closing Banquet 2019
Nominee Info
Eliza McGill
I am from Highland, Utah. Upon graduation, I plan to work in capital markets and accounting advisory for PwC in the Dallas office. An interesting fact about me is that if I couldn’t study accounting, I would have studied American History. I love what BYU Marriott has taught me about giving back. Faculty such as Brian Voigt, Stan Wilson, Monte Swain, and Tina Ashby have sacrificed opportunities for higher pay in an effort to interact with and help students develop educationally, professionally, and spiritually. Many of my peers participate in club leadership, mentorship, and social innovation in efforts to give back to underclassmen and under served demographics. These people inspire me to live a generous and service-centered life.
I served a mission in Quito, Ecuador, where I fell in love with the Latino culture. I noticed a stark contrast between the lives of those who graduated from high school and college and those who did not. I determined to graduate with a degree in accounting and to continue to use my Spanish language skills to someday do financial planning for low-income Latino families. My goal is to teach money management, helping them save money for education.
