BYU Marriott Closing Banquet 2019
Nominee Info
Matt Johnson
Although my first words were “debits on the left, credits on the right,” I have found joy and excitement in more than just accounting here at BYU. I was born and raised in the great state of Michigan and made the trek out to Utah to attend Brigham Young University in 2016. While at BYU, I have served as a program director in Y-Serve, a vice president in the Accounting Society, and a partner with the Volunteer Income Tax Assistance program. After graduation, I plan to relocate to Charlotte, North Carolina, to work in an international tax group for a public accounting firm.
I try to keep a diverse profile outside of accounting. In 2018 I completed the coursework for a minor in Spanish Studies. I can be found training for a marathon, playing in the third division of the wallyball intramural tournament, or spending time with my wife debating the economics of the medical field. Despite many of my passions outside of the Tanner Building, BYU Marriott School of Business, with its incredible faculty and excellent students, continues to be one of the focal points of my BYU experience.
