With this passion in mind, Eme studied biochemistry in college, conducting laboratory research on cancer-eliminating drug therapies throughout all four years of her education, earning a bachelor’s of science from Brigham Young University. After working in the biochemistry industry for three years, Eme determined that she has a greater passion for people in non-laboratory settings then pipettes and pursued a master’s in public health with an emphasis in behavioral science and health education from Saint Louis University in St. Louis, Missouri.
During her graduate studies, Eme earned a graduate assistantship where she coordinated two key projects focused on addressing health disparities among African-American men with chronic and infectious diseases (i.e., hypertension and HIV/AIDS). Following her graduate studies and research, Eme joined the Adventist HealthCare Center for Health Equity and Wellness in Gaithersburg, MD where she held several positions focused on community health, health equity, immigrant health and provider education.
Recently, Eme began a new role as Lead Equity, Diversity and Inclusion Officer with ZERO to THREE, a national non-profit focused on the well-being of infants and toddlers. In this role, Eme is the internal and external voice for the organization’s strategy and implementation of addressing the needs of underserved communities.

Defining herself as a “cheerleader for health equity”, Eme is a frequently requested presenter for national and international audiences on topics related to cultural humility, racial and gender equity, and immigrant health. Eme is also the 2016 recipient of the National Minority Quality Forum’s 40 Under 40 Leaders in Health Award.
