Presenters
Phil Harrop
Phil’s career as a healthcare executive has taken him to a variety of places, from Washington DC to Oregon and many in between, as well as a variety of facility sizes, from large academic and teaching centers to rural, critical access hospitals. Most recently he and his family have (once again) called the Midwest home. He is known for his operational, strategic and financial acumen, as well as his ability to connect with the people whom he serves. He has led financial turnarounds, flipping 7-figure losses to 7-figure gains, as well as cultural turnarounds—resulting in large improvements in employee, medical staff and patient satisfaction. He has extensive regional and market leadership experiences and has frequently juggled multiple formal roles simultaneously.
Harrop earned a bachelor of science in business management—finance from Brigham Young University and four degrees from The Ohio State University: a Master of Health Administration, a Master of Business Administration, a Master of Science in public health and a PhD in health services management and policy. He is a Fellow of the American College of Healthcare Executives (ACHE) and was elected ACHE's Regent for Idaho for 2015-2018. He has published numerous articles on a variety of healthcare topics and has lectured on healthcare and leadership in several universities across the country.
Phil has served on multiple boards for local, state, and regional organizations. He and his wife, Heidi, served as the inaugural co-chairs for the Brigham Young University Alumni Association—Iowa Chapter. He has been involved in his community as a little league coach, Scout leader, and through Church callings. He and Heidi are the parents of six children. The Harrops love Church history and are frequently found working on and enjoying their properties in Nauvoo, Illinois.
