Biography

Sarah Taylor Agate completed her bachelor’s and master’s degrees at BYU (B.S. in Family Studies, M.S. in Youth and Family Recreation). She completed her PhD at Clemson University in Parks, Recreation and Tourism Management. She has taught at Southern Illinois University, Clemson University, Southwestern College, and SUNY Brockport, where she was a faculty member for four years before joining the faculty at BYU in 2019. Her research focuses on exploring how transformative experiences contribute to developing different components of emotional intelligence.

Group Affiliations

  • 261 Fearless — 261 Fearless is a global non-profit organization founded by pioneer runner Kathrine Switzer. They use running as a vehicle to empower and unite women through the creation of local running clubs, education programs, communication platforms and social running events.
