Retiring in October 2021 to Hyrum, UT, Woody is quickly winding up a thirty-seven-year career in city government with cities in Utah, California and Washington State. His positions have included city manager, city clerk and administrative services director. Within these titles, his roles included HR manager, risk manager, emergency manager, public works/utilities manager, public records officer and employee safety officer. He served on several state-wide boards with the Association of Washington Cities, the Washington Cities Insurance Authority and the Washington Association of Public Records Officers. Prior to his MPA in ’85, he graduated with a BS in Earth Sciences from BYU, and served a mission in Paris, France. He was raised in Maryland.
Woody and his wife of 40 years, Laura Allen Edvalson, met in the BYU Acapella Choir, and continue to enjoy various forms of musical expression. They have five children and four grandchildren. Looking forward to doing some low-level overlanding and hiking mixed with photography, they are also interested in more traditional types of travel and exploring service opportunities together in retirement.
