Tanise Chung-Hoon was appointed as Managing Director for LDS Philanthropies in August 2013. Her responsibilities include overseeing fundraising at the Church higher education institutions (BYU, BYU-Hawaii, BYU-Idaho, and LDS Business College) and fundraising at other approved Church programs and priorities (e.g. missionary fund, perpetual education, humanitarian, Church History, family history, and temple patron fund).
Prior to her assignment as managing director, Tanise served as the Executive Director of Development for LDS Philanthropies BYU where her responsibilities included overseeing all of the development functions and fund raising activities related to the university. She also led efforts for fundraising in support of president’s priorities, scholarships, mentored student learning, and other approved priorities.
Prior to coming to BYU, Tanise worked for seven years at UVU. She served for two-and-a-half years as the Assistant Dean in the College of Humanities, Arts, and Social Sciences, and for five years as Assistant Athletic Director for Student Services, and Assistant Women’s Basketball Coach.
Tanise received her Bachelor’s degree in Business Finance from Brigham Young University and her Masters of Educational Administration from the University of Utah. In 2005, she was awarded a PhD from BYU in Educational Leadership and Foundations with a focus on Higher Education Administration and an emphasis in Organizational Strategy and Philanthropy. Her research interests focus on networking, developing enduring donor engagement, and building and sustaining lifelong relationships.
She and her Husband, Kaiwi, live in Orem, Utah and are the parents of three children, and have three grandchildren. Tanise enjoys learning, reading, family activities, technology, and sports.
